Origin Story

A setback that became light.

"My goal was never to beat cancer or overcome the stroke. It was to turn those experiences into something that helps others heal."

— Steven Csorba

In late summer 2025, our lives shifted suddenly when I suffered a debilitating stroke — an unforeseen consequence of the surgeries and radiation that had saved my life from Stage 3 throat and neck cancer more than two decades ago.

Doctors explained it wasn't lifestyle — it was the long-term effects of life-saving treatment finally catching up. Strangely, I see it now as a blessing in disguise.

After more than twenty years of channeling my energy into art, wellness, and service — helping raise over $10 million for Alberta charities — I've learned that life's greatest gift is simply being able to give, even when how you give must change.

The JoyKit™ Concept

From that realization, the JoyKit™ was born — a simple idea with a powerful purpose.

For every JoyKit™ you purchase, you receive two sunflower prints: one to keep and one to give away.

A small act of kindness that helps joy travel farther. We call it Share Art. Spread Joy.

About Steven Csorba

Artist. Cancer Survivor. Wellness Advocate. Community Builder. Joy-Maker.

Steven Csorba

Steven Csorba is an Edmonton-born artist (b. 1964), storyteller, and lifelong advocate for using creativity as a force for healing. Over the past two decades, he has helped raise more than $10 million for Alberta charities through his art, leadership, and relentless belief in the power of giving back.

Before illness reshaped his life, Steven was an award-winning brand strategist whose creative work for clients such as Apple, Industry Canada, and the Department of National Defence was recognized by the Smithsonian Institute for innovation in risk-managed digital brand building.

A Journey Through Adversity

Steven's first major battle began in 2003, when he was diagnosed with Stage 3 throat and neck cancer at age 38. What followed was a grueling ordeal:

  • A 14-hour surgery to remove the cancer
  • Seven weeks of intensive radiation treatment
  • Four years of recuperation
  • Eight reconstructive surgeries over seven years to repair a deteriorating jawbone

During his decade-long journey (2004–2014), Steven embraced Arts in Medicine Therapy and became one of the first jaw reconstruction patients at the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine (IRSM) in Edmonton — later becoming the first patient to sit on its board.
